Basil started Shaolin training at the age of 18. He trained for 5 years in Tai Nui Gong Fu. He complemented his traditional martial arts routines by elite sports workouts and injury rehabilitation education.
Basil met ShiFu YanZi. He quickly qualified to join his elite training team and became one of the first members of official Shaolin fighting team in UK.
Basil became British National Champion in San Shou and won gold, silver and bronze medals over three consecutive years.
Our Shaolin Gong Fu - Cambridge branch is the only school in East Anglia to practice traditional forms and training techniques. Basil was encouraged by ShiFu YanZi to start teaching Shaolin Gong Fu in Cambridge as part of a drive to spread the benefits of the Shaolin culture in the UK. The school has been spreading the Shaolin spirit since 2006.
Basil has worked in his external and internal martial arts and fighting skills for the last 32 years. Since 1999 has followed traditional Shaolin training methods under the guidance of Shifu YanZi whom he met in London. In 2006 he was British National Champion in Sanshou (65kg). In 2006 has was entrusted with running the Cambridge Branch of STUK (www.shaolintempleuk.org). Basil started his martial arts and sports training in Greece. He studied Gong Fu there for 6 years and trained with a number of professional athletes in diverse sports disciplines, gaining extensive experience in a number of training regimes and injury rehabilitation.
